Andean Marriage Ceremony Cusco

Spiritual Marriage in Cusco: The Spanish conquerors tried to suppress Inca culture—its customs, beliefs, and myths—but failed. It was like trying to separate the heart from the body.

In the Inca tradition, marriage was not just a union—it was a sacred spiritual pact, a vow made to the heavens. This bond was offered to Tayta Inti (the Father Sun, deity of the universe) and Pachamama (Mother Earth, the goddess and nurturer of life), under the guidance of powerful protector spirits from the mountains. It symbolized the perfect duality between man and woman, representing the Sun and the Moon.

Before the union, couples were lovingly prepared with healing plants to purify and bless them—uniting their hearts, bodies, minds, and spirits in eternal harmony. A spiritual wedding was considered unbreakable by human words or decisions, as it was founded on pure, sincere, and sacred love. Infidelity, adultery, or fornication were viewed as serious moral transgressions. Breaking such a vow was believed to bring misfortune, illness, or worse, as divine punishment from the spiritual guardians.

This union called upon the energy of the three worlds: the heavens (Hanan Pacha), the earthly realm (Kay Pacha), and the underworld (Uku Pacha). If the sacred pact was betrayed, the spiritual forces could bring about lasting consequences—suffering, karma, disease, or even death, depending on the gravity of the act. A Spiritual Marriage in Cusco is not a ritual to be taken lightly. It demands intentionality, integrity, and a deep commitment to honor a sacred covenant.

Customer Testimonials

Simona Jones

I spent a week with the Association of Peruvian shamans in their beautiful temple in Patapata. During this time I had Ayahuasca , Watchuma, Karpay and 5 Andean ceremonies, all ceremonies with different shamans. It was an unforgetabke experience, healing and enlightening that opened a new path for me. I also want to thank Johana and Amaru, who assisted in all the ceremonies and took really good care of me during my stay. I can not recommend enough their retreats.
